According to the ATC, here is the length.
The total length of the A.T. changes slightly each year due to footpath relocations and more precise measurement techniques. The 1.2-mile increase for 2022 was due to three significant relocations in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and on the Connecticut/New York border.

Seems to be some travel headaches for winter Olympic athletes. Since the global crisis, flights to and from China have dwindled making it a a challenge for people to get to the events.
Further, and complicated this year due to the crisis, are the challenges to host such a mega event.
One good thing is that vaccines are required or face a 21 day "layover."
