COVID-19 TRAVEL INDUSTRY MONITOR

A slew of graphs and figures are found here produced by the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce.  Seems travel is a bit up, compared to the lows 2 years ago. Hotel occupancy is dropping again too.

Trade.gov also has these neat one page "fast facts" sheets that are good as infographics.  And a bit more detailed ones as the example here.

Explore the data.

Blue Lagoon, Iceland

An ice storm blew through southern Illinois last night, so I just got inside after scrapping ice off the sidewalk, and applying pet-safe salt on the back steps for Bubba-Doo.

I came inside to fire up the PC to do some writing and my screen saver showed some pics from our two visits to the Blue Lagoon in Iceland.  There are tons of other hot springs in the country, but this site is probably the  best well known.

So let's get to the pictures.

The resort now boasts two hotels as well as the Lava Restaurant.

On our second visit we stayed the original hotel called the Silica Hotel.

And this is the view from our room.

and me enjoying the silica "mud" in the private lagoon.
