Heritage Tourism in Wales

When I travel, I do enjoy seeing archaeological sites when ever possible.  On my current trip I am seeing neolithic sites (5-6 thousand BP) like St Lythans Burial Chamber:

and more recent (1100 AD) like Ogmore Castle:

The Welsh Government has a great site to find these places (and an app too)!

Oh yeah, one last picture of the popular and LARGE Caerphilly Castle.  Spectacular!

Virtual Tourism

Another great site to virtually tour a place.   Now that Panoramio is shut down, these other sites offer a chance to see the earth at ground level.  See also this button.

enjoy.

Great name for a restaurant

Arrived quite late in Provo the other week, and stopped by Yummies for some BBQ Pork, pickled onions and boiled cassava.  HUGE serving for $10.  Enough for three meals.  We were starving marvins.

(I will comment that they way the chef chopped the meat, we had to be careful about the bones, but that is part of the charm and we were hungry!)

Geo-tourism on Provo

hmmm. many different definitions of this term so I will just use it as "Geologic Features" tourism.  Finally checked out "The Hole" on Providenciales this past week. It is basically a sink hole in the limestone.

Be careful.

It is worth a visit and 15 minutes should do it.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling is one of my favorite outdoor recreation activities.  I don't do it as much as I would like, mainly because I don't live near "clear" water.  As a young adult I even snorkeled in streams, watching the aquatic critters scurry around.  Ocean snorkeling meant traveling to the Caribbean, where for the most part, the water was clear enough to see.

Here is a short video clip of me checking out the third longest barrier reef on the planet, in the Turks and Caicos.  Specifically I am off Water Cay, east of Providenciales.

Notice the bleaching?
