Easy to participate, by simply buying a few extra items each time you shop.  And then place by your mailbox Saturday morning.

Back in the day, I would show a film and collect food for our local pantry.

 Time to pack up some non-perishable foods like canned soups, veggies and mac and cheese for the annual food drive.

Put the food in a sturdy plastic bag (double if rain is in the forecast), and place by your mailbox.

Time to tackle food insecurity in the US.

Staycation

One of my neighbors decided to dine at my neighbors' bird feeder the other night.  (S)he finally ran off when I disturbed the meal.  Oh well.

Oh yeah, the US Postal Food Drive is this Saturday.  Donate to help others (and not bird seed)!

Stamp Out Hunger Saturday 12 May 2012

This Saturday, Postal Carriers will collect curb side food for the local Food Pantries.  Time to donate canned goods and non-perishable food items.  Tuna Fish, Mac & Cheese, Soup, Veggies are all needed.

I know the food that our local Post Office (01085) will collect will help feed Westfield residents until September 2012.

And don't just dig out the old dusty cans in the cabinets; go to the store today and pick up some good stuff!

Spring time Movie and Food Drive

This week, we are hosting the annual GARP Movie and Food Drive. Showing the classic international sci fi film "Latitude Zero", we hope also to collect canned goods for the local food pantry.

Tuesday 10 April 2012, 8 pm in the Ely Campus Center at Westfield State University.

Can't make it? Start collecting food for the annual US Postal Service food drive in May. Contact your local Post Office for details.

The Crawling Eye

This is the kind of film that makes your jaw drop! Anyway, showed this bad boy to my students this evening for the annual 16mm Halloween Movie and Food Drive. Collected some 6 boxes of food that I'll take to the local Food Pantry tomorrow.

The students had a break from studying for midterms (yeah, right), and we collected food to help those who need a little extra.

Halloween and horror movies

Every fall, I show one of my 16mm prints of a horror or sci fi film for Halloween. This year we are also collecting food for the local food pantry.

This title is a classic one with brain creatures (see the last 10 minutes).

I am sure that your local library or school will be sponsoring some safe Halloween event for young and old alike. Maybe even the Fiend without a Face!
