Named Tropical Cyclones

The list for 2019 is out.  And this is official, unlike the one that we find on the TV channel that now names all storms.

I would everyone to start naming every weather event.  If it is a bad storm, like the one that killed 3 people in Missouri yesterday, you might name it after someone you dislike (surely today, there is someone you dislike). 

But more optimistically, if the weather is nice, name the day after a friend or pet.  Yesterday for example was a Bubba-Doo kind of day.  Spunky, friendly and a great companion.

For the ones on that TV station, refuse to use their name and use the one you want to use.

Why do we need embedded actors covering Hurricanes?

Why can't we set up some remote cameras and have a voice over cover natural disasters?

Why do we put these people at risk, and those who may have to rescue them?

Who is Stella?

So here we go again with all the weather hype.  I am not saying a snow storm dumping 3 inches of white stuff an hour is nothing to sneeze about, but I still need to ask

Who is Stella?

Seems Stella is a commercial name of this latest nor'easter as an attempt to personalize a weather event.  Now, we do name hurricanes, but that is a function of the government.  Stella comes directly from a for-profit cable channel.  So to get a commercial free and accurate assessment of weather, go to the weather.gov (not the dot com one).

Winter Weather Advisory

Seems we might get some snow tonight in New England.  In Albany, NY, "significant snow" is expected.  In anticipation, I checked out my snow blower, gassed it up, and ran it for a bit yesterday so I can tackle Winter Storm Caly!.  (notice how the Foxification of the Weather Channel has gotten out of hand the past few years?)

That is why I rarely use the dot com site.

a SNOW event coming our way

Wow, you'd think it was something really important. I mean, we are in New England and overall, our snow fall count is down this season. So what's a foot mean for us? Well. school is closed tomorrow.

So everyone is out in the stores tonight buying milk as if the all stores would be out.

It is crazy.
