September 25, 1974 and 1976

In 1974, I hike about 8 miles to Eliza Brook LT and arrived about 1 pm, shortly after my right boot fell apart.  I was kinda' bummed out.  This morning Kinsman Pond LT I have to dry and thaw my boots that "were frozen stiff."  So on the 25th, I went into North Woodstock to phone home and buy groceries.  "Got shit to fix boots some what. I should be in Hanover in 4 days, I hope."

Fast forward two years to...

St. Lucia

 It is unfortunate that this island paradise made the New York Times "Disaster Atlas" found in the Sunday Review.

I don't recall the problem with the "toxic sargassum seaweed", but organic debris is common along ocean beaches. 

Typically hotel staff will removed the flotsam and jetsam long before the beach worshippers claim a recliner, but the organic material appears to join plastic and other wastes to dispose of.  

So in the meantime, enjoy these pics of St. Lucia.

snow storm thoughts

This morning with my coffee I was watching some rock concerts on YouTube and was reminded about something that bugs me.  Light shows have become as important as the music at shows, but I really hate the bright flashing lights into my eyes.  I am temporarily blinded.

So artists.....chill with the lights a bit please.

Peter Gabriel was hot last night

We saw Peter Gabriel last night in Connecticut at Mohegan Sun Arena.  I have loved this artist since my college days in the Seventies, and this guy keeps going!  The concert was orchestrated to begin with a starter to wet the appetite, then an electric main course of older tunes and the dessert was the complete SO album.

WOW, a fantastic experience of music and visuals.
