Back during Covid, I used the campus for shooting Model Rockets. Here is a video of Little Joe.

Recreational Pot Sales start July 1.
Here in Massachusetts recreational cannabis is "supposed" to start Sunday 1 July 2018.
Not quite sure where, since the paperwork for retail operations is quite extensive.
In Whip City, USA (aka Westfield Mass), a new dispensary is set to open in August, although I am not sure they got all the licenses needed. I am not sure if it will medical marijuana or recreational or both. A few weeks back it looked like this:
To find it, you just need to get to the back of the State Police Barracks!
What might be offered? See the website (no prices yet).
Enjoy some of the research on the subject.

Westfield City Council rejects move to rescind Community Preservation Act
Good news for our Town, As reported in the media, the Community Preservation Act is safe, for now.
The measure assesses property owners one-percent of their property taxes to raise funds for preservation of historic property and buildings, open space and housing. It exempts the first $100,000 of property valuation.
For Westfield's CPA page, click here.
Since the town dissolved the BID (Business Improvement District), all citizens will bear the burden to keep our city alive, not just those who profit from it.

Westfield Dog Bark coming soon

Westfield Dog Bark becoming a reality. Yes, that is the way we spell it. The City Parks and Recreation Commision gave us permission to lease the property known as Arm Brook as seen in this image from the City's GIS. We scouted out the park area this morning and will meet at the University on Wednesday to do some more serious planning.
For more information see our Facebook Page at:
The area we are planning is in the southern portion of the property.

Urban Heat Island to Increase in Westfield?
I don't know. I was driving through town today and noticed that all the beautiful trees in the Green were being chopped down. Maybe the city needs some money. Just makes me want to do another UHI study this fall to see the impact. After all, this past fall we found the Green to be one degree cooler than the rest of downtown Westfield.
Check out the slide from our research where we discovered the cooling effect of the Green. Stay tuned. Click on the graphic to enlarge it.
