Southeast Environment and Recreation Research (SERR)

The Southeast Environment and Recreation Research (SERR) conference planning committee is excited to announce that we will be hosting a “3MC,” three-minute conference, virtual competition event in 2021! In lieu of an in-person meeting, you are invited to submit an abstract for a three-minute poster or paper presentation. The goal of the 2021 SERR – 3MC is to share research in a succinct, rapid-fire, virtual format that engages others in your discipline and communicates the key aspects of your study.

We invite your participation in the 43rd Annual Southeast Environment and Recreation Research (SERR) conference. For more details on the virtual conference format, to submit and abstract, and to register for the conference, please visit: https://serrconference.org/

Presentations should be of an empirical, conceptual, or theoretical nature related to the following topics:
  • Leisure and Recreation Behavior
  • Management of Leisure Programs and Services
  • Methodological Aspects of Recreation Research
  • Nature-based Travel and Tourism
  • Outdoor Recreation and Education
  • Park and Protected Area Planning and Management
  • Parks, Physical Activity and Health
  • Recreation Economics or Policy
The abstract submission link will close on February 15, 2021. Recorded three-minute videos will be submitted by March 1, 2021. Registered conference attendees will have access to view the videos and to vote on their favorite presentation March 22-25th. Friday, March 26th there will be a happy hour live Zoom session, with an announcement of winners in four categories:
  • 1st place (undergraduate) as voted by the Planning Committee
  • 1st place (graduate) as voted by the Planning Committee
  • Fan favorite (undergraduate)
  • Fan favorite (graduate)
Cash prizes will be awarded to our winners
All presenters must register for the conference.

If you have any questions, please contact Allie McCreary (allie.mccreary@wku.edu).

We look forward to seeing you virtually in 2021 and to being back in Asheville, in-person, March 20-22, 2022!
